First and still the best

We're proud to have been the first trade publication for financial advisers in New Zealand, established in 1990 by our Publisher Graham Rich as the first specialist publication for New Zealand's financial services industry. A lot has changed in that time, of course, but the fundamental need for information has only increased.

financialalert and its journalists have won many awards over the years, including Qantas Media Awards and Westpac Business & Financial Journalism Awards. financialalert has also been recognised as the information source most valued by its audience, in numerous surveys over the years.

Since inception in 1990, financialalert! has established an innovative tradition of "firsts" :
- first trade publication (1990)
- first NZ financial services firm to go online (1996)
- first to introduce a daily news email update for NZ advisers (2000)
- first publication to introduce a set of value-added Tools for advisers (2001)
- first to introduce a Practice of the Year Award (2005)

Our Publisher, Graham, is credited as one of the pioneers of the New Zealand and Australian managed funds and financial advisory industries. He initiated the first financial planning firm in New Zealand, and was the founding chairman of New Zealand's financial planning association and is now a life member of the resulting Institute of Financial Advisers (IFA). He has established and sold a number of innovative businesses in the managed funds and financial planning support services arenas including financialalert, as well as a financial planning software business, advisory training business, Adviserlink, and FPG Research (subsequently Morningstar), the first and at the time of his departure in 2001, the largest fund rating company in Australia and New Zealand. These days, Graham spends his time developing and managing various publications through his boutique investment publishing house, brillient!, the most experienced publishing knowledge, skill and competence in the New Zealand financial advisory market ( www.brillient.com.au ).
